Neil Hudgell Solicitors concludes case for electrician injured by air hose blast

Neil Hudgell Solicitors successfully concluded the case of Gareth Durrant, injured when air from a high pressure hose was blasted up his rectum causing a six inch tear in his bowel.
Mr Durrant, an electrician from Hull, was working at Willerby Holiday Homes when the accident happened in July last year.
A hearing into the case at Hull County Court was started and then adjourned at the request of the company.
Andrew McGowan, personal injury expert at Neil Hudgell Solicitors who represented Mr Durrant, said the parties had reached a compromise – the terms can’t be disclosed.
Gareth Durrant’s stomach was damaged when air from a high pressure pipe entered his rectum whilst he was working at Willerby Holiday Homes in Hull.
Mr Durrant, aged 26, who is married with a three year old boy, needed emergency surgery to save his life after the incident which happened on July 13th 2010. His injuries included severely perforated intestines which will require on-going treatment and he has since suffered major psychological problems.
The pipe carrying compressed is one of many which hang from the ceiling and are used to power tools on the production line at the factory on Hedon Road which makes static caravans.
Mr Durrant said he was very pleased the court case had been settled and thanked Andrew McGowan of Neil Hudgell Solicitors.
Mr Durrant said: “Although the pains and the other problems I have are still continuing, I feel as though a tremendous weight has been lifted from me now the case is settled and I don’t have to worry any more.
“Andrew has been a great help and support, not just with the court case and the confidence he had that it was the right thing to do, but with all the other money and health concerns I’ve had as a result of my injuries. He’s kept me informed every step of the way and been a huge source of advice and reassurance.”
Andrew McGowan said: “I am very pleased to be able to conclude Gareth’s case to his satisfaction. Gareth and his family have been through such a lot.”
