Neil Hudgell Solicitors increase clinical negligence specialism

19th October 2011

Neil Hudgell Solicitors has bought the personal injury and clinical negligence practices of fellow Hull law firm MMS Solicitors. Staff and premises are also being transferred in the deal.

The move is part of Neil Hudgell Solicitors on-going plans to expand its business through acquisition and organic growth and to increase the specialist expertise and experience offered to clients.

Neil Hudgell Solicitors, which has two other offices in Hull and one in Leeds, specialises in claims for personal injury and clinical negligence, particularly brain injury and dental negligence cases. It will now take on all MMS’s clinical negligence and personal injury caseloads. This includes a legal aid contract for clinical negligence work which enables Neil Hudgell Solicitors to broaden its representation of seriously injured and vulnerable clients.

Two partners of MMS and other four other MMS staff are joining staff from the clinical negligence team of Neil Hudgell Solicitors and will operate from offices in Princes Avenue, Hull. MMS is now focussing on other areas of law including conveyancing, wills and probate from its offices in Hornsea, Withernsea and its newly acquired office in Cottingham.

Neil Hudgell, managing director of Neil Hudgell Solicitors, said: “We already have a solid track record of success in clinical negligence cases. The MMS purchase will further boost our very strong team, expand our skill set and enhance the expertise and experience we offer clients who are our number one priority.

“This deal also helps us to achieve our aim to expand. We have grown by 50% in the past three years and we aim to grow by another 100% in the next three – organically and through acquisition. ”

Already in 2011, Neil Hudgell Solicitors has bought three other legal practices outright and there are more deals in the pipeline. As part of the expansion strategy, earlier this year www.webuyanyfiles.com was launched outlining the firm’s offer: it has immediate access to capital funds to buy personal injury practices, case loads and individual cases.

Chris Moore, a partner at MMS who is joining the clinical negligence team at Neil Hudgell Solicitors, said: “This move makes sense. It enables MMS to continue its other private client work while the former clinical negligence department can merge knowledge and resources with Neil Hudgell Solicitors to form one consolidated practice providing a high quality services for our clients.”

Chris Moore, who is a member of The Law Society’s Clinical Negligence Panel, an accreditation scheme for highly qualified practitioners in this area of the law, will jointly head the new clinical negligence team based in Princes Avenue along with Vince Shore, another MMS partner, and Simon Wilson, senior solicitor and clinical negligence specialist at Neil Hudgell Solicitors.
